Rigoberto Trejo, born and raised in Albuquerque’s South
Valley was introduced to New Mexican Music at an early
age. Being influenced prominently by his father’s bands
of the 70’s he quickly fell in love with the style of
“Los Chavos” and “Macho Power USA”.
Wanting the thrill of being on stage and the
opportunity to perform with different artists, while
playing trumpet and percussion; help him today at the
age of 27 while he plays with some of New Mexico’s best
performers, such as, Darren Cordova y Calor, Mariachi
Calor, Al Hurricane, Al Hurricane Jr., and Jerry Dean.
With a relatively new career in radio, we asked what
made Rigoberto decide to get into radio, he replied
with, “It’s actually a dream I always had and just never
got to pursue. So, when the opportunity came up to work
for KXMT, I took it without any hesitation.” Now working
for the most popular station in Northern New Mexico and
Southern Colorado, he enjoys the opportunity to become
more in touch with the rich cultures found in the
surrounding areas. Hoping to teach his four children to
appreciate the culture and heritage that they come from
Rigoberto spends as much time as possible taking his
children fishing, hunting, and many other activities
that are prominent in New Mexico.
The love of New Mexican music and favorite artists like
Marco Antonio Solis, Darren Cordova, Thalia, Sparx, and
Ozomatli, Rigoberto has the musical tastes that make
KXMT a truly unique format.
